Week 1 : Introduction into my Interest in Norway and their Natural Hazards
Norway is a fascinating country that's surrounded by beautiful landscapes, something one would find in a fairytale. I chose this country to study natural hazards because I have always wanted to visit and experience everything that the country has to offer. From the sights to the food and people, it looks like a very peaceful place to be. This delightful-looking country has a rich European culture and is quite astonishing to view but even the most beautiful places in the world have their fair share of natural hazards that affect the country.
The main hazards that occur in Norway are landslides, avalanches, flooding, and even earthquakes! With landslides not seeming like they are a big deal, they are very serious and not only cause major damage to some rural and inner cities but deaths can be expected from them. Norway has invested itself into its own offshore hazards as well, from oil and gas pipelines to the protection of marine wildlife and communities that exist on the coastline. The information I found can be learned through the article I have listed below. It's quite interesting!
